The Yamhill-Carlton AVA was established in 2004 and is recognized as having some of the finest Pinot Noir vineyards in the world. Here, ancient marine sediments result in some of oldest soils in the entire Willamette Valley. Additionally, the Coast Range creates a ‘rain shadow’ over the region protecting the vines from wind and rain during the critical growing season. The soil and climate is particularly suited to the Pinot Noir grape and produces wine with complex flavors, deep color and smooth tannins.
Pheasant Hill Vineyard is located in the southern most tip of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and is just west of McMinnville in the Northern Willamette Valley. The vineyard has eastern exposure with views of the valley and the
Cascade Mountain Range.
